# Kleinanzeigen

Use JOIN to post premium job ads on Kleinanzeigen, Germany's largest classifieds marketplace, and reach a broad, hyper-local, mobile-first audience.

Kleinanzeigen (formerly eBay Kleinanzeigen) is Germany's largest online classifieds marketplace, with over 698 million monthly visits, 100+ million app downloads, and 630,000+ job listings live at any time. Unlike a traditional job board, Kleinanzeigen works like a local marketplace: candidates browse by category, location, and distance, the same way they would for a used bike or a flat.

Kleinanzeigen is best suited for:

* Local and regional roles where proximity matters more than specialisation
* Blue-collar, trades, and service-sector positions
* Entry-level and helper roles
* High-volume or urgent local hiring where broad, low-cost visibility is the goal
* Testing a new role or region cheaply before committing to a bigger campaign

{% hint style="info" %}
You don't need your own Kleinanzeigen business account to post through JOIN.

{% hint style="info" %}
Kleinanzeigen is a broad-reach, local-visibility channel, not a high-volume application driver. Expect fewer, faster, more local responses rather than a large number of applications. Treat it as a channel for awareness and quick local enquiries and you'll get more value out of it.

### Kleinanzeigen premium product

<a href="https://join.com/promote/boards/ebay_kleinanzeigen" class="button primary">Explore Kleinanzeigen products</a>

| Product          | Duration | Price | Billing model |
| ---------------- | -------- | ----- | ------------- |
| **Premium Plus** | 30 days  | €65   | Fixed         |

**Premium Plus** is a single-job, fixed-price placement: you pay once per booking, regardless of how many views or messages the ad receives. It publishes your job on Kleinanzeigen for 30 days with boosted, prioritised visibility, and is designed to generate up to 5x more enquiries than a standard, unpromoted listing.

You can add Premium Plus from the `Premium Job Boards` tab when you click `Promote` on a job, or from the `Store` tab. See [Booking process](/promoting-jobs/booking-process.md) for the full checkout flow.

### Job quality guidelines

Kleinanzeigen enforces stricter formatting and compliance rules than most job boards. Following them the first time avoids a rejected booking.

* **Company logo is mandatory.** Kleinanzeigen requires a company logo for a booking to go live. Add one to your JOIN company profile before booking.
* **Keep the job title under 65 characters**, with no emojis or email addresses. Kleinanzeigen rejects listings that include them.
* **No emojis anywhere in the ad**, in the title or the description.
* **AGG compliance is enforced.** Kleinanzeigen reviews listings for compliance with Germany's Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz). Use gender-neutral wording or the standard "(m/w/d)" suffix.
* **Keep formatting simple.** Kleinanzeigen doesn't render rich formatting well. Plain paragraphs work better than heavy bullet points or nested lists.
* **Location must be accurate.** Kleinanzeigen is a distance-based, local-search platform, so an accurate location is essential for your ad to reach the right candidates.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Bookings without a company logo will not be published.** This is the most common reason a Kleinanzeigen booking fails.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Changes to a live Kleinanzeigen ad aren't synced automatically. Updating the title, description, or logo after go-live requires a manual request to Kleinanzeigen's support, which can take time to process. Get the job details right before booking rather than relying on being able to edit afterwards.
{% endhint %}

### How the ad looks

Kleinanzeigen displays job ads in the same classifieds-style format used across the platform, not a traditional job-board layout.

**Search results**: candidates see your company logo or thumbnail, job title, location, and how recently the ad was posted. Listings are sorted primarily by recency and distance, not relevance, so visibility fades as an ad ages within its runtime.

**Job detail page**: candidates see the full job description, your company logo, and a `Bewerben` (Apply) button. One click sends their application straight to your JOIN inbox, just like on any other job board.

### Understanding job status

Your Kleinanzeigen booking status is visible in the `Postings` tab of your job:

* **Processing**: your booking has been submitted and is waiting for Kleinanzeigen to review and publish it. This normally takes up to 3 business days.
* **Online**: your ad is confirmed live and visible in Kleinanzeigen's search results.
* **Failed**: Kleinanzeigen rejected the booking, most commonly due to a missing company logo, emojis in the ad, or an AGG compliance issue.

{% hint style="success" %}
Failed Kleinanzeigen bookings are automatically unposted and refunded to your JOIN account as JOIN credits. You don't need to request this yourself.
{% endhint %}

See [Postings status](/promoting-jobs/postings-status.md) for how to track any job's posting updates and performance.

### FAQs

<details>

<summary>Do I need my own Kleinanzeigen account to book through JOIN?</summary>

No. JOIN handles the booking and publishing on your behalf. You don't need a separate Kleinanzeigen business account.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why won't my Kleinanzeigen booking go live?</summary>

The most common reason is a missing company logo. Kleinanzeigen requires one for every listing. Check that your JOIN company profile has a logo uploaded, then check the booking status in the `Postings` tab.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How long does it take for my Kleinanzeigen ad to go live?</summary>

Most bookings go live within 3 business days of checkout. If your booking is still `Processing` beyond that, JOIN is already tracking it and will follow up with the partner directly.

</details>

<details>

<summary>My booking shows Failed. Do I get my money back?</summary>

Yes. Bookings that Kleinanzeigen rejects are automatically unposted and refunded to your JOIN account as JOIN credits. There's no need to contact support to request it, though you're always welcome to ask for details on the reason.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why am I only getting a few applications from Kleinanzeigen?</summary>

Kleinanzeigen is a broad-reach, local-visibility channel rather than a high-application-volume one. Most visitors are browsing the marketplace for its core classifieds use case rather than actively job hunting, so overall volume is naturally lower than on dedicated job boards. If you need higher application volume, pairing Kleinanzeigen with a platform like Indeed or LinkedIn will generally deliver more.

</details>

<details>

<summary>When should I choose Kleinanzeigen over LinkedIn or Indeed?</summary>

Choose Kleinanzeigen when the priority is local, low-cost, high-visibility reach: for example, filling a blue-collar, service, or entry-level role in a specific city or region quickly. Choose LinkedIn or Indeed when your priority is a higher volume of applications or reaching passive and professional candidates.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I updated my job in JOIN, but the Kleinanzeigen ad still shows the old version. Why?</summary>

Changes to a live Kleinanzeigen ad aren't synced automatically. Updating the title, description, or logo requires a manual request to Kleinanzeigen, which can take time to process. Where possible, finalise your job details before booking rather than editing afterwards.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Kleinanzeigen is showing the wrong location or logo. Can this be fixed?</summary>

Logo and profile display issues can usually be corrected through a manual update request. Location mapping errors are sometimes a Kleinanzeigen-side issue that can't be corrected. In that case, the booking is unposted and refunded rather than fixed in place.

</details>

<details>

<summary>My ad was rejected for emojis or AGG-related content. What do I do?</summary>

Remove emojis and any language that could be seen as discriminatory under Germany's Equal Treatment Act (use gender-neutral wording or "(m/w/d)"), then re-book. Kleinanzeigen reviews every listing for these issues, so ads that don't meet the guidelines are rejected automatically rather than published and flagged later.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.join.com/promoting-jobs/job-boards/kleinanzeigen.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
